There are several ways workplaces can mark Pride Month and show their support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Here are some ideas:

Raise the Pride flag
Display the Pride flag prominently in your workplace. It can be flown outside the building, hung in common areas, or placed on desks.

Arrange educational sessions
Host workshops or seminars to educate employees about LGBTQ+ history, terminology, and current issues. Invite guest speakers or create internal panels to share personal experiences and foster understanding.

Create LGBTQ+ resource groups
Establish employee resource groups or affinity groups that provide a safe space for LGBTQ+ employees and their allies to connect, share experiences, and provide support.

Offer diversity and inclusion training
Implement training programs that focus on diversity and inclusion, specifically addressing LGBTQ+ issues. This can help promote a more inclusive work environment. Talk to TIC Box Productions who can organise this for you.

Update policies and benefits
Review and update company policies and benefits to be more inclusive of LGBTQ+ employees. This includes policies related to non-discrimination, equal opportunity, and transgender inclusion, as well as providing comprehensive health benefits that cover LGBTQ+ healthcare needs.

Celebrate with events
Hold events and activities throughout the month, such as guest speakers, film screenings, panel discussions, or social gatherings. Encourage participation and involvement from all employees.

Support LGBTQ+ charities or initiatives
Partner with local LGBTQ+ organisations or charities and organize fundraising events or donation drives. This can demonstrate your commitment to the community beyond the workplace.

Encourage open dialogue
Foster a culture of open communication and encourage employees to share their perspectives, experiences, and concerns. This helps create a supportive and inclusive environment.

Update signage and materials
Temporarily update your company logo or signage to include rainbow colors or other symbols of LGBTQ+ pride. Consider using inclusive language in all company materials, including email signatures and website content.

Engage in community events
Encourage employees to participate in local Pride parades, marches, or other LGBTQ+ community events. This can show solidarity and support beyond the workplace.

Approach Pride Month with sincerity and respect. Engage in meaningful actions that go beyond mere tokenism to create a workplace that is genuinely inclusive and supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. You can also read our other blog on creating an inclusive workplace here
